SEE WHICH STATE IS BUILDING TRAINING COLLEGES FOR TEACHERS

Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has promised to establish three teachers training colleges in each of the three senatorial zone in the state before the end of his tenure. Speaking at the weekend during a two-day retreat organised by the Association of Old Students of Government Teachers College, Keffi, at the State University, Keffi, the governor said the efforts being made to establish the training colleges was to set a standard for all categories of teachers in ensuring quality education in the state.
He said the financial commitment of establishing the three teachers training institutions would be captured in the state’s annual budget next year.

“The state government would set a standard for all categories of teachers to ensure quality education particularly at the primary school level,” he said.

The three teachers training colleges would be established in Lafia, Wamba and Keffi local government areas.

He promised to continue to give education the desired attention and called for advice on how to move the state forward.
He also assured the Old Students that by next year the state government would reconstruct the Government Teachers College, Keffi, as part of efforts in restoring its past glory.

Executive Chairman, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Malam Abdulkarim Muhammed, also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to establish a teachers university in the state.
