FOUR people from the same family were killed in a horror air crash on Saturday, it emerged yesterday. The parents and two adult children were declared dead at the scene after their six-seater aircraft came down in a field. Cops have launched a joint investigation into the crash with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch. They will consider if weather played a part as the region was hit by wind, mist and heavy rain. Police said yesterday formal identification was yet to take place but the dead were men aged 56 and 20 and women aged 55 and 23, all related from the Surrey area. Tragedy ... the Piper Malibu Mirage The family took off from Surrey and were heading for Dunkeswell Aerodrome, Devon. They were just seven miles from their destination when the aircraft crashed near the village of Churchinford, Somerset. The cockpit and tail snapped completely off the Piper Malibu Mirage. The accident was attended by dozens of rescuers with an air ambulance and police helicopter. Farmer Dave Manning, who owns the land where the plane came down, was on the scene before the emergency services but said: “There was nothing we could do.”
