The Nigerian Senate on Thursday confirmed the former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi and seventeen others as ministers.
Amaechi’s was confirmed as minister in spite of attempts by senators belonging to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to stall his confirmation. They later staged a walkout led by the former Akwa-Ibom State Governor cum Senator- Sen. Godswill Akpabio after their attempts became futile. Meanwhile the PDP Senators earlier vowed to withdraw their support for the embattled Senate President- Senator Bukola Saraki if Amaechi is confirmed.
